The Voice of Hope, KVOH, is re-launching this weekend with a daily schedule on 9975 kHz, from 01:00-04:00 UTC, beginning on Saturday, 2nd November, 2013 (Friday evening in the Americas).
From Monday, 4th November (Sunday evening in the Americas), the schedule will be one hour later, from 02:00-05:00 UTC.
Programs will be in Spanish for the first two hours, and English for the third hour. This initial schedule will be expanded in the months to come, as airtime sales allow.

My good buddy and SWLing Post reader, Mike, recently mailed the QSL card he received from KVOH after one of their test broadcasts. I’m glad he sent it to share–I love the front of the QSL card, which shows the footprint of their signal:

[W]e would very much appreciate your reception reports (or preferably, recordings) of the tests we will be running on 9975 kHz on Friday and Saturday evenings this week. The exact times are:
- Saturday 7th – 0100-0400 UTC
- Sunday 8th – 0100-0400 UTC
In North and Central America, that would be this Friday and Saturday evenings, 8-11pm Central, 9pm-12am Eastern. The test program will be similar to last time, but not exactly the same. It will contain segments in both English and Spanish.
The transmitter site is near Los Angeles, and here it is currently getting dark at about 0230 UTC (7:30pm local). Therefore, during the first half of these tests, the transmission path will be increasingly in darkness, and for the last 90 minutes or so will be in complete darkness. Please let us know what reception sounds like at your location as the evening progresses, and also what type of receiver and antenna you are using.
Reception reports may be emailed to “QSL@kvoh.net” or sent to:
KVOH – Voice of Hope
Los Angeles, CA 90078
United States of America
All correct reports will be verified with our QSL card.
Thank you very much in advance for your assistance with this test!
Last week, I mentioned that KVOH would broadcast another test transmission on 17,775 kHz, July 7, 2013 at 17:00UTC.
Though I’ve been extremely busy this past week (hence the lack of posts!), I did manage to record the KVOH broadcast. Indeed, the following recording includes several minutes of pre-test transmissions (you’ll hear “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins and a tuning carrier). Thus I actually start the recording with the pre-test content (around 16:30 UTC) and continue recording afterwards, with no interruption; expect periods of static between.
