Hi to all our SWLing Post friends. Here’s this week’s Imaginary Stations schedule for your shortwave listening pleasure.

On WRMI on Wednesday 23rd September 2026, at 0200 hrs UTC on 9395 kHz we bring you Imaginary States: Vermont. Welcome to the sounds of the Northeast Kingdom where hippies still thrive six decades later. We will hear tunes from all over the state, and the state of mind, known as Vermont.

Later that day at 1800 hrs UTC on 3975 kHz/6160 kHz via Shortwave Gold, tune in for more sounds of Skybird Jams, great extended tunes from the Skybird vaults including Grant Green, Herbie Hancock & more.

And at the weekend, on Saturday 26th September at 1100 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then again on Sunday 27th September at 1300 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and 2000 hrs UTC on 3975 kHz/6160 kHz via Shortwave Gold, it’s our first broadcast of CLSC, music we like to think is classic, or classical in nature. Roll over Beethoven, we’ve got the coolest tunes on shortwave (complete with additional instrumentation thanks to the ionosphere.)

New Mexico and all that stuff

Hi to all our SWLing Post friends. Here’s the Imaginary Stations schedule for your shortwave listening pleasure.

On WRMI on Wednesday 16th September 2026, at 0200 hrs UTC on 9395 kHz we bring you The Shortwave Music Library. DJ Frederick searches through the dusty archives of the library and selects some wonderful tunes.

Later that day at 1800 hrs UTC on 3975 kHz/6160 kHz via Shortwave Gold, we bring you The Skybird Lounge. Retire with us to the lounge for some chilled out listening pleasure.

At the weekend on Saturday 19th September at 1100 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then again on Sunday 20th September at 1300 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and 2000 hrs UTC on 3975 kHz/6160 kHz via Shortwave Gold, we return to our Imaginary States project and visit the state of New Mexico. We will be sampling music from bands who call New Mexico home. There might even be a well-known song about Albuquerque!

On WRMI on Wednesday 9th September 2026, at 0200 hrs UTC on 9395 kHz we bring you another crazy episode of Radio Ace. This just might be the strangest instalment yet … tune in to hear some cool & strange tunes and guest host Grandpa turns into a cat.

Later that day at 1800 hrs UTC on 3975 kHz/6160 kHz via Shortwave Gold, we bring you The Skybird Lounge. Retire with us to the lounge for some retro listening pleasure. There will be idle chatter and designated drivers, so come on in & listen to the music. No cover charge!

At the weekend on Saturday 12th September at 1100 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then again on Sunday 13th September at 1300 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and 2000 hrs UTC on 3975 kHz/6160 kHz via Shortwave Gold, we bring you the The Shortwave Music Library.

Library cards at the ready as Head Librarian DJ Frederick goes through the archives and databases and picks out some wonderful tunes to air on this hour long show. Tune in for a great selection from our vast catalogue.

Hi to all our SWLing Post friends. Here’s the Imaginary Stations schedule for this week’s shortwave listening pleasure.

On WRMI on Wednesday 2nd September 2026, at 0200 hrs UTC on 9395 kHz we bring you another show in the WHFM – Herman’s Radio and Record Room series. This is a programme by DJ Frederick Moe in memory of his father Herman Moe (1919-2001) and features mid-century sounds including country, jazz, folk and easy listening.

Later that day at 1800 hrs UTC on 3975 kHz/6160 kHz via Shortwave Gold, we bring you more Skybird Soul on Shortwave. Expect the best Soul and soul related tracks for a Wednesday evening. It’s great to hear some soul on those shortwaves!

Then on Saturday 5th September at 1100 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then again on Sunday 6th September at 1300 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and 2000 hrs UTC on 3975 kHz/6160 kHz via Shortwave Gold, we bring you a show about Fraternity Records out of Cincinnati, Ohio. Be prepared to listen and learn about this excellent record label and hear some wonderful cuts released on the label.

Shortwave music libraries with soul

Hi to all SWLing Post community. Here’s the Imaginary Stations schedule for this week’s listening pleasure.

On Wednesday 26th August 2026, at 0200 hrs UTC on 9395 kHz on WRMI we have the Shortwave Music Library. More excellent selections from DJ Frederick’s vast music collection, expect all sorts of genres!

Later that day at 1800 hrs UTC on 3975 kHz/6160 kHz via Shortwave Gold, we bring you another episode of Skybird Soul on Shortwave. Expect some great Soul and soul related tracks for a Wednesday evening. Fades and extra effects thanks to the ionosphere are all part of the listening experience!

While on Saturday 29th August at 1100 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then again on Sunday 30th August at 1300 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and 2000 hrs UTC on 3975 kHz/6160 kHz, we bring you a another totally different episode of the Shortwave Music Library. It’s more of the same format as above and you’ll never know what you are going to hear.

Shortwave mysteries with Arizona in the spotlight

Greetings all SWLing Post community. This weekend Imaginary Stations brings you another episode of WMMR (Mystery Mix Radio) – Guess the theme show. The first transmission is on Saturday 28th March at 1100 hrs UTC on 6160 kHz and then again on Sunday 29th March at 0900/1300 UTC on 6160 kHz and 2000 hrs on 3975 kHz/6160 kHz (via the services of Shortwave Gold).

As usual, the show has a theme that you the short-wave listener, will have to guess what it is. There’ll be a special e-QSL for the lucky winner, and as ever, we will not give any clues away here, the clues are in the show. Tune in and have some (educated) guessing games via the shortwaves.

And if we mention Arizona, you may think of the Grand Canyon, or the largest continuous ponderosa pine forest on Earth or the 100 or more wineries there but there’s more! If you tune into WRMI on Wednesday 1st April 2026 at 0200 UTC on 9395 kHz it’ll be the debut of Imaginary States: Arizona. Tune in and find out more interesting facts and music about the Grand Canyon State!

Does (shortwave) time really exist?

Greetings all SWLing Post community. This weekend Imaginary Stations bring you a show all about the wonders of time called CLOK. The first transmission is on Saturday 21st March at 1200 hrs UTC on 3975/6160 kHz and then again on Sunday 22nd March at 1000/1400 UTC on 3975/6160 kHz and 2100 hrs on 3975 kHz (via the services of Shortwave Gold).

We’re not winding you up, but we love passing the time playing with those shortwaves here at Imaginary Stations. During the 3600 second programme you’ll hears songs about wristwatches, stop watches, battery operated time machines and those classic cuckoo clocks. They’ll be a trailor of that classic film “The Watchmakers of Wisconsin” and if all goes well, a performance of the first ever alarm clock orchestra. So make sure your time-piece is set correctly and tune into the sound of the CLOK.

And on  WRMI on Wednesday 25th March 2026 at 0200 UTC on 9395 kHz it’ll be time for another episode of CLOK. Tune in for more timely classics!
