Many listeners have noticed that the former Voice of Greece (ERT Open) has moved from 9,420 kHz to 9,415 kHz. This must be due to interference from the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) who has been transmitting on 9420 kHz as well.
Here in North America, even when IRIB was broadcasting simultaneously on 9420 kHz, VOG always overpowered their signal. In other parts of the world, though, it was not the same case.
I’m happy VOG/ERT is still on shortwave and broadcasting to the world–though no one really knows for how much longer.
I recorded about one hour of VOG on 9,415 kHz, starting around 0045 UTC today. Enjoy:
hi good afternoon
I read the reviews on this site and now at 17 Hr. 2 min UTC.’re Listening to “the voice of Greece” in 9415 Khz froma stable in two excellent receivers, quality, without possibility of OTRS broadcasters can change or influence local oscillator receivers.
Officially in 9410 KHz should be but is not, then: what is the reason?
thank you very much

here in greece in 9420 khz we listen irib… ertopen is not too strong. just when irib sign off it can be audible.
Thanks Thomas!
By the way, here in Israel, AIR is heard on 9425kHz, not VOK.
ERT open can be heard also on 9935kHz and 11645kHz, but now radio blackout affects reception severely, as X flare occurred earlier.
Best Wishes,
Moshe.
You’re right about band conditions. Everything above 7 MHz was amazing last night, this morning it is not the same. I recorded the whole 31M band last night. Curious to match up with when the flares started.
Cheers,
Thomas
Well, I can tell that: as I was listening to ERT open this morning, A background static started to show up at around 10:40 local time (07:40UTC) It became louder and louder. At this point I took my Tecsun S2000 outside to the garden. At the sunny side the static was overwhelming and the station disappeared. Moving to the west side of the garden, to the shade, the station showed up again without static, but the signal started to drop quickly from S9+10 to S3 or so.
I guess that was A live radio blackout!
Best regards,
Moshe.
Hi Thomas.
This morning, VOG is back again on 9420kHz, I am listening to it at this moment, 07:20 UTC (10:20 local time).
This change of frequency looks weird to me, maby one of your Greek speaking readers can tell what is going on.
All the best,
Moshe.
You’re right, Moshe! Last night I recorded several hours of their broadcast. I was surprised to see they had taken back their old frequency. But as K.U. mentioned (above) I hate to see this now become a conflict with VOK and IRIB again.

Thanks for the tip.
The real problem receiving 9420 kHz has been often a lot of stronger signal from Voice of Korea on 9425 kHz here in Helsinki.
