Radio Northern Europe International Show 9

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Roseanna, with Radio Northern Europe International who shares the following announcement:

Radio Northern Europe International Show 9 announcement

Hei all,

It’s our pleasure to announce RNEI #9 to you!

RNEI 9’s music features:

  • An artist introduction to a brand new group from the Faeroe Islands with their first song announced by Heidrik from the band
  • A candidate for Denmark’s Eurovision from 2020
  • A catchy Swedish song I really like at the moment
  • The return of Evelina and Zupermaria
  • Some traditional Icelandic and Samí music I think a lot of you will like
  • A Norwegian song from the 1970s that I recently discovered with a beep but no boops
  • Our first Estonian song to start of the dance segment
  • Fading into a Danish dance song to end off the show

RNEI 9’s digital experiments on Shortwave:

  • Easypal QAM16 7zip file transfer (of a website!) embedded into our interval signal
  • A few hidden experiments (Running JS8Call nearer the end isn’t a bad idea ? )
  • DominoEX22 embedded in the final song

Please note: On WRMI the broadcasts are 30 seconds shorter necessitating a shorter interval signal and therefore a shorter Easypal segment than the Channel 292 and Onda broadcasts. Expect potential changes e.g. QAM64 or lesser error correction modes. The version sent to World FM, Unique Radio and later On-Demand will be the “HQ” version, meaning it doesn’t have the Easypal (because it sounds nasty) nor does it use the Comb Stereo system.

TIAEMS for this month is really good complete with MFSK data and lots of great music!

As promised the Saturday 6070 kHz broadcast will be the first one on shortwave carrying the new show!

Our schedule is available here: https://rnei.org/listen/

QSLs are running massively behind schedule, we are very sorry, show first, website second and QSLs third at the moment making very little time to reply to them. We have got some ideas to speed up the process soon though!

Sending you all good wishes and hoping you can listen and enjoy the show,
Roseanna

Radio Northern Europe International now via WRMI

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Roseanna, with Radio Northern Europe International who shares the following announcement:

Hello everyone,

RNEI has arranged a deal with WRMI to bring you our latest monthly show every Thursday at 1UTC on 5850 kHz (Wednesday night US time – just before TIAMS!)

Because these broadcasts are 1 hour long rather than our usual 30 minutes it allows us to have a little extra content we are calling RNEIX(tra).

[…]We will be broadcasting with similar processing to TIAMS so expect high fidelity sound in Comb Stereo ?

For our European fans:
New RNEI shows will always go out first on 6070 kHz Channel 292 before WRMI and any extra content will be available on demand.

We hope you can tune in and enjoy the show,

– Rose

Radio Northern Europe International August 2020 broadcasts

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Roseanna, with Radio Northern Europe International who shares the following announcement:

Hello all,

Just writing to announce RNEI #7 & TIAEMS August 2020 starts on Sunday the second of August 2020!

Our show is packed with some great pop and dance music from Northern Europe including quite a few Icelandic and Norwegian songs this month and a very interesting song from the UK too!
There is a little less traditional music than is average this show which I’ll make up for next month, but hopefully you’ll enjoy what is in this month’s show!

Our digital this time is PSK500R at the end of the show and TIAEMS is MFSK 64.

The Stereo Decoder has been updated so we recommend you download the latest one, it sounds much less artefact-y!

Our broadcast times are on the table below:

We hope you tune in and enjoy this months show, wishing you all the best,
Until next month,
Ha det!

Radio Northern Europe International #6 & TIAEMS July 2020 annoucement!

Hello everyone,

This is just a little announcement post for the next instalment of RNEI!

Our show for July 2020 will have a few pop, traditional and dance songs for you to enjoy!
We are also trialling a digital text system using MFSK16 that could potentially run throughout next show. It’s a little above 5K audio so to decode it you will need to adjust your equipment to receive it!

A reminder to go to https://rnei.org/stereo/ to learn how to decode the stereo in our broadcasts.

Just in time we managed to get the TIAEMS segment into the final show file and I’ve literally just finished listening to it and I can confirm it is good so hopefully you stick around for that!

  • Sunday the 5th of July 2020, 18:00 UTC, 6070 kHz, Zone 1+2
  • Saturday the 11th of July 2020, 18:00 UTC, 6070 kHz, Zone 1+2

Radio Northern Europe International update and May 2020 broadcast schedule

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Roseanna, who shares the following announcement from Radio Northern Europe International:

Hello everyone,

Last broadcast was pretty successful with many wonderful reception reports and some people sending in decodes of the stereo which is amazing to hear!

A reminder to go to https://rnei.org/stereo/ to learn how to decode the stereo, it is real stereo over a mono shortwave transmitter!

RNEI show 4 is half dedicated to Eurovision entries so the first half of the show is an entery from each Nordic country and after that we take a trip to some Faroese and Irish traditional musics before ending with our favourite Eurovision entry from this year and the final song containing the MFSK 32!

TIAMS has made another 30 minute express music show for after our broadcast for you to enjoy!

RNEI now broadcasting in Comb Stereo

Many thanks to SWLing Post contributor, Roseanna, who shares the following announcement from Radio Northern Europe International:

Hello everyone,

The show is finished, transmitter time booked and pre-processing done so it’s time to announce RNEI #3 & TIAEMS April 2020 to all of you!

Before we continue, we need to announce something pretty special and unique about this and future RNEI broadcasts:

RNEI is now broadcasting in Comb Stereo. It’s a standard we made and it’s a really nice addition to having a mono only broadcast. It’s easy to decode and it doesn’t degrade the mono signal!

For more information about the system and how it is decoded please see https://rnei.org/stereo/

RNEI #3 features 30 minutes of our favourite music from all over Northern Europe; Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark and Iceland this show. I’ve really enjoyed choosing the music and putting it all together, I really hope you enjoy listening to it.

We will also have the playlist sent in MFSK32 embedded into the final song, very similar to show #1 (we’ve worked extra hard to make it as hidden as possible which was a massive challenge this time, it’s in 2 parts during the final song with an RxID at the start of the final song).

Just like last month, TIAMS has been kind enough to join forces and make us a 30 minute express version of his show which I have loved listening to and I’m sure you will love it too![…]
